Massive photo dumping!

Hey guys! It's been another while since last post...

So I'm just gonna cut the crap of and drop a huge amount of photos on your heads, enjoy.

First off: Stone Sour
Went shoot Stone Sour last week on Tuesday for Rockfreaks.net, awesome show but seriously Corey Taylor you talk too much dude!

The support for the show came from HellYeah, honestly the lighting was pretty awesome for a support band but the music was just soooooo boring.

HellYeah

On Thursday I joined my good friend Lykke and headed back for Store Vega in CPH, that time to shoot and review Avenged Sevenfold for Horns Up Mag.
I didn't bother editing any of the shoots from the Swedish support band Corroded 'cause it was just plain shit lighting and shit music... But you A7X out there probably know that last Thursday was Johnny's birthday, that resulted in the whole place singing Happy Birthday to him ^^

Now last Wednesday I went see Swingin' Utter at Loppen, it was originally meant that Lykke was to shoot that show but she's sick so I covered up for her, but you're gonna have to wait for those photos as I haven't even started on them yet.

Today passed with me ranting constantly about the current Danish weather that consist of storms and fucking SNOW everything is freaking white... Needless to say that I don't like winther much huh ?
So to make my mood a bit better I got a hold of my old friend Fie and we went off shopping.. and poor credit card mine is, that thing is so abused that I ALMOST feel bad about it, but how am I to resist buying awesome Raccoon printed shirts and Iron Fist T-shirts when they're on sale? No seriously... if it wasn't for the fact that the snow would ruin them in a minute I would have gotten myself 3 more pair of shoes today...

To end this looooong blablablabla I've put you through, I'm going to be shooting and reviewing Deftones tomorrow, and I'm so FREAKING excited... I LOVE DEFTONES and getting to shoot these guys twice in a year is for me a HUGE deal. So listen up snow storms... STAY OUT OF MY WAAAAAAY TOMORROW!

PS. Dear DROP DEAD WEBSTORE! could you PLEASE work properly? I have money I want to spend on your store... more money... *sigh* Thank you ^^

Hawthorne Heights + We Are The Ocean + Lights In Reverse at BETA

'Sup people?
Yeah I know totally forgot this thing... again... (which seems to be becoming a habit). >.<

Anyways so on November the 3rd I went to the tiny Shit Island Clubbing (as they put it themselves in English) also known to the Danes as BETA, to see the "emo" legends Hawthorne Heights with support coming from We Are The Ocean and the local Dane band Lights In Reverse.
While I love both HH and WATO I simply don't give a shit about LIR, and can't seem to understand why they were booked as the local support band. Anyways work is work so I snapped some photos of them as well. Enjoy.

Oh yeah btw, I'll be posting photos from Amorphis and Biffy Clyro in the next few days.
So make sure to come back and check them out, and until then you can go over to my Flickr and see some more photos.
I'll probably be uploading a batch of very old (read early '07) gig photos soon.
And if it should take me a bit of a long time to post again, then it's because my new Wacom table is taking AAAAAAAAALL of my time.

How much some things mean to me.

Why am I so aggressive when it comes to photography?
Why am I willing to play as nasty as I can to get what I want?
Why am I telling you this?

Well with the recent events of people going behind my back and playing nice to get what they want I've decided it's time to make something clear.

Nothing ever came to me falling from the sky. I've worked hard to get what I have. Maybe being born and raised inside the music/art/press industry has given me some advantages compared to most others. Some apparently think that therefor I don't appreciate what I have enough or that I don't need to work hard for it, just like anyone else.

That's not true, me being who I am and being born inside only means I have to work at least twice as hard as most others to prove I'm good enough to be where I am.

While I can be friends with other photographer outside of the barriers and 3 song rules at concerts and while I can control my ego when it comes to my personal project. And I'll (most of the time) will gladly go out of my way to help a friend or colleague with their projects or even recommend them to someone I know in case I think their suited for the job.
I DO NOT AND I REPEAT DO NOT APPRECIATE PEOPLE GOING BEHIND MY BACK TO GET THINGS I'VE WORKED HARD FOR DURING YEARS TO ACCOMPLISH!

As Todd Owyoung once said, “As soon as the light go off, I wanna destroy you”. That applies to my way of thinking. We can be friends outside of the industry but when it comes to work. I will make everything I can to bet you at everything.

Sounds too aggressive? Well fear me not, most photographer thinks this way, some are just too good at hiding in under a sheep's skin.

Where am I trying to get with this?
Dear photographers, art, industry friends, are you reading this then please remember. It's nothing personal. There's just things I'm not that willing to share or that I'm more protective of. I don't think that people who don't work hard for things should have them.
Now that raises the question of why I'm not willing to share it. Quite simple. You know that everybody has one thing or person or something that keeps their sanity at a accepted level right?
Photography (mostly music) is what keeps mine in place. Being there and not having to concentrate or think about anything else for those 3 songs is all I ever wanted. To be able to shut down everything else in my head and only focus on what I'm shooting.
While my personal photo projects are much more of my alter ego speaking, and those are normally the nasty thoughts that runs inside my head everyday.

On a final note: I will not play nice and hide beneath a house of cards build upon lies to get what I want. But if someone out there is stepping on my toes I would recommend an immediate retreat, 'cause I won't hold myself responsible for playing dirty if necessary.

Now not everything today will be based on my rants. I'll leave you with a sneak peek of the Biffy Clyro photos coming up on one of the next few days. Enjoy.

You Me At Six + Kids in Glass Houses + Ten Second Epic

Yuuush let's try again (since I accidentally deleted the post before posting it earlier today).

So I went see You Me At Six not many days ago.
First off, I ended arriving almost a whole support set late, 'cause of bad internal communication.
I apologize to Ten Second Epic for the lack of better and more photos. Hopefully I'll get a chance to make it up to them.
I ended up spending most of the show up in the balcony hanging out of it while climbing up the hanging monitors to get most of the photos. Since it was almost impossible to take photos from the front of the stage. (Who says music photographers don't work hard?)

Anyways enough talk here's some photos:

Siamese Fighting Fish + Marionette

Okay I'm sorry I'm spamming today, but hell I need to update this and stop backlogging all the time.

Anyways this is kinda of a continuation of the Trusted Few's Release Party Post further down.
As I wrote on the other post, they weren't the headliners that night. But Swedish Marionette were. Extra support came from also Danish Siamese Fighting Fish.

So let us starts with that night's headliners Swedish Marionette. They look quite funny, but the music is really good (and I normally hate swedish bands) If you like me didn't knew them then go check them out at their myspace.

And Then we have the Danish Siamese Fighting Fish.
I'm not the keenest person on earth when it comes to their music, but it's growing on me.
Lead singer Mirza is a friend of mine so I snapped some photos of the band this time (long story made short, usually I miss their set or my computer dies and all photos are lost with it, or I accidentally delete the photos from my memory cards....resuming I'm not always that smart).

And this is all for this post. Coming up : You Me At Six, Kids In Glass Houses and Ten Second Epic.

Trusted Few Release Party At The Rock

Those who know me, They also know that I'm a big fan of the Danish band Trusted Few. Not only I'm a fan those guys, but they have been my friends for a few years now.

It all started about tree years ago when their bassist Andreas contacted me about the release of their first self titled Ep "Trusted Few". I instantly grew to love this band, from that point on I was at almost all their shows always with my camera in my hand. This resulted in me working more than often with them. When they released their second Ep " Futatsu" I was there as well. I think that since I met these guys I've only missed a handful of their shows in Denmark. (which is quite impressive if you ask me).

So Saturday two weeks ago, October 1st, they finally released their first full lenght album. And off course I wasn't gonna miss that. So there I was at The Rock with my camera ready.
I arrived at the venue around six hour prior to them playing since I wanted to grab some backstage and soundcheck photos. And here they are:

As for the live photos, well Trusted Few was unfortunally not the Headliners tonight, which is quite odd considering it was their release party. Anyways here's some more photos.

Trigger The Bloodshed + The Dead Lay Waiting + Billy Boy In Poison

So I know this was some time ago now. Approx. two weeks or a bit more. But I decided to post this anyways.

So I went off to the tiny Danish venue Beta (formerly known as Amager Kino) to see the British Trigger The Bloodshed plus their support, which came from also British The Dead Lay Waiting and the Danish Billy Boy In Poison. And while I can't take The Dead Lay Waiting seriously, ones got to admit that they worked hard to get the crowd to "warm up", too bad it didn't work and most people had left the venue under their set.

Anyways here's some photos from the gig.

I have seen the end ... CAT?

Well Hell, so I'm not even gonna be able to get away from them in death? You know that's just so not fair.... )>.<( I really don't have any luck when it comes to kids... I normally end up in the train wagon with the biggest amount of them and apparently I'm the most interesting thing they've ever seen.

Anyways, I've finally sent most of the photos for the Gaffa music photo awards, just two sections missing. I'm crossing my fingers and everything else that at least get to kick some ass ...

My left arm's sleeve is still not finished, but it will hopefully be by November, which reminds me that I need to stop by Charlotte's shop to book two appointments. Starting on my right arm in less than a month. Damn I'm excited to see what Marija got for me. Hope it's going to look EVOOOOOOOOOOOL!

Friday's coming up and I got a portrait shoot and live shoot with the guys from Trusted Few, who will btw be releasing their first full length album called: And Then We Forgot, on friday as well. I'm really excited about it. If you haven't heard about them you should go check them out at myspace, their never record isn't up yet, but will soon. (I Hope) Check them out here: Trusted Few's Myspace.

That's all for tonight... going back to read my book before I give up on finishing it again. (FUUUU school, why must you take most of my time?)

Sucks (-__-;)

You know your weekend's gonna suck, when you have to spend it doing homework.
2 reports in Japanese.
about 12 pages of grammar in japanese.
20 kanji's I've should have memorized already.
2 english papers due tomorrow and Friday.
about 30 pages English grammar.
5 chapters of Spanish grammar.

But what you do when you know your weekend is gonna suck?
You grab a friend and go out and buy overly expensive headphones so you can burst your ears with death metal to keep you awake 'till late night. (Actually I bought the headphones last week, but nonetheless they're WONDERFUL !)

Other than that you buy yourself some overpriced imported Cherry Coke, some Skittles and some Aero mint chocolate and you're good to go.

Infest

"There's no money, There's no possessions, only obsessions, I don't need that shit, Take my money, take my possessions, take my obsessions, I don't need that shit" Some of the most famous words sung by Jacoby Shaddix in the song: Between Angels and Insects.

I guess none can argue with those words. Wise words coming from a maybe not so wise man (At least back in the days when it was written). Been spinning this record a lot lately. Still love it just as much as when it first was released back in April 2000.

This song itself have been an important part of my life. And with the years passing by feeling like they were just a few months. I've come to realize that most people don't own stuff, their stuff owns them. I myself hate to admit, but I'm owned by my camera, phone and computer. Other people are owned by their money, I'm sure glad I'm not one of those. In my mind money ain't nothing but a fictional number sitting in a fictional account... That doesn't mean I don't pay my bills and that I don't work, 'cause nobody can survive on air (or at least not anybody I've ever met).

Anyways... to sum this up, if you got the record go listen to it. If you don't, well then you're a moron and should go get it (Legally obviously).

Anger and more Anger!

A good friend posted this photo a while back at facebook and tagged me as the "serious" cat. She had a pretty good point.
At least considering the fact that I'd taken over the role as the serious, mature (to a certain extend), adult one in the crew and if you ask some people they'll tell you that I've also taken the role as the asshole and angry bastard.
Probably all those things fits me just fine.
I can be your best friend or I can be your worst enemy... That's pretty much up to you.

Now enough on the anger bullshit... or wait a second, I got one last rant to do today.
Why would someone have their tattoo shop as "open" and not be there? God Fucking Dammit! all I wanted to do was, drop some deposit money off and change some appointment dates... is that so hard to open the freakin' door for? C'mon it would take me less than 5 minutes.... ARGH or at least learn to take the phone... Serious people, it's NOT that hard.

Apparently I've also been kicked out of my english and spanish class for not being there enough.... hmm what about the teacher's being there on time? It's not fair that we get a whole day counted as "not present" if we're 5 minutes late, if they can just drop in after 30 minutes...?

I dropped the Charlaine Harris' Harper Connelly series for the time being, since I can't seem to finish the second book. I really like the first book "Grave Surprise" but the second one is so slow and quite boring, I've past the middle of it and I can't force myself to finish. Normally I read books like there was no tomorrow... Anyways so instead of finishing that book I started reading Harry Potter and the philosopher's stone. (I've red this one once in portuguese many many years ago) never really got around on reading further on the series, but since I recently found all 7 books for nothing more than 25pounds from new, I couldn't resist the urge of buying them. Just hoping I'll have more time to read these. So they don't end up like the other 16 books waiting for me to have time.

People's opinion upon others

Last night, I ended up hearing an opinion about me I actually could have survived without.
No names need to be listed here, but honestly I'd expect that an Artist would be much more open minded that average people. Apparently that doesn't seem to be this case.

Normally I don't bother with people's opinion about me, whether they know me or not.
But I was caught by surprise when I realized all that he ever though about me was only based on my appearence and not my actual intelligence.

So in a certain famous danish artist's opinion, people like me (read: "overly" tattoed, with metal sitting on their faces and huges holes in their ears, etc etc etc... you get the picture!) are nothing but a bunch of low IQ, lowlifes, drug users, alcoholics, society losers who feed upon other peoples money *keep adding bad adjectives*.
I'm truly sorry but last I checked (which was about 2 seconds ago)!
I currently have two full time jobs, one part time and I'm a full time student. How in the hell do I fit into his description other than the physical part of it?
Yes I have metal sitting in my face, yes my ears have been "destroyed", yes there ink under my skin! But that does not make me a criminal.
I know a lot of people in the "alternative" culture have complained and ranted about this so many times before. I just seem not to be able to accept this.
I was raised by a hard working father, raised to be polite to those who are polite to me, raised to pay my bills on time, work hard to archieve what I desire. But most important of all is that I've been raised to not put up with closed minded people's bullshit!

If he should read this, well I hope you've one day will grow some guts and have the balls to come and actually have a conversation with me so, maybe one day you can trade that nasty image of me and people alike me out of your head and get an actual image of who and what I am.

Skeletonwitch

For more photos check my Flickr page here: Brightsideofmurder@flickr

So Tuesday night I left one and a half hour earlier from my japanese class to catch the american band Skeletonwitch at the danish venue The Rock.

While I have this love/hate thing for the rock I must admit that I was pleasently surprised about the quality of the sound.

Also Aleksi helped me pick some of the photos I'll be using at this year's Gaffa photo awards.
Now I just need to figure the last ones to use and submit them and hope for the best.

BMTH photo featured in Epitaph's Blog?

So while being bored this early mornig after a night of no sleep because of coding html for pure nothingness I feel upon a post at the Epitaph's Blog, from back when Bring Me The Horizon had just entered the studio in Sweden to record their soon to be released record: There's a hell believe me I've seen, There's a heaven let's keep it a secret.

And while I normally don't mind my photos being used, I do care about people dropping me a line telling me that they're used it or posted it somewhere else with something else. It takes maybe a couple of minutes to let me know and it doesn't hurt anybody. So why won't people just do it?

Epitaph, next time, drop me a line or even two and let me know you're using it. Thanks.

Now that's all for the now being, better get out of the door and out to school.
Two and a half long annoying english lesson hours here I come!

Finally done... Or at least almost!

Hell, I've actually forgotten how terribly annoying it is to do html coding by hand without any help.
Ah well at least the design is done and only need to fix tiny small stuff now.
It's almost 2:00am, and I need to sleep since there class early tomorrow (at least I think it's early).

I'm currently trying to figure out which photos I should use for this years Gaffa photo competition.
Guess I'll have to wait for Jana to get home from Russia to help me pick which ones to use.

There's less than 20 days for me to get to finish my left arm's sleeve. Next month we'll be starting at my right arm's and I'm so excited to see what Marija's gonna come up with. It's going to be a high contrast since my left arm is pretty much "girly" and my right arm is going to be quite "gore-ish" (or at least I hope).

Yuuush, now I'll better go get some sleep unless I wanna sleep through my english class tomorrow.

おやすみなさい〜
